Ron Howard is known as a movie director. However, he first became renowned as an actor playing in the 1960s and 1970s films. Having gave up acting, he has directed a lot of films, inclusive of the scandalous blockbuster The Da Vinci Code, and its loud sequel, Angels & Demons. The movie is based on the book written by Dan Brown, the author of The Da Vinci Code that made the world split into two groups - its supporters and opponents, including the Catholic Church. Although The Da Vinci Code was prohibited in a lot of countries, a lot of people worldwide have viewed the film. Angels & Demons uses the idea of a historical conflict between the Roman Catholic Church and scientific knowledge described in The Da Vinci Code film. The plot of the movie Angels & Demons concentrates upon the aspiration of Harvard University historian and iconologist Robert Langdon to reveal the mysteries of a mysterious society called the Illuminati. The Roman Catholic Church, particularly the Vatican, faces a great threat when the chief four cardinals to supersede the deceased Pope are abducted by members of the Illuminati that adhere to scientific truth. The Church is told that each cardinal will be put to death one per hour starting at 8 pm, culminating with an explosion of an antimatter bomb under St Peter's Cathedral sharp at midnight destroying the sacred city. To deal with this horrifying threat, the Church calls upon the services of iconologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who is knowledgeable about the powerful secret society. He has to start the investigation immediately, rushing to find the abducted cardinals by deciphering symbols. Robert Langton together with physicist Vittoria tries to reveal the death of the Pontiff and save the world. The views of Rome in the film are glorious and picturesque. The viewer has a chance to walk along the streets of Rome and visit the most famous historical and cultural places of interest together with the film characters. The movie does well to involve interest through its explanations of history and the inner organization of the Vatican. The plot keeps the watcher engaged and interested up to the end of the movie. The plot unfolds with unexpected twists and turns that leave the watcher thrilled. |
